We recently worked with High Performance Homes on a roofing project and couldn't be more satisfied. We opted for their High Performance roofing package, including the ridge vent system, as well as new gutters for the entire house. Our project estimator, Travis, was outstanding—professional, attentive, and never pushy. He gave us the time and space to make decisions without feeling pressured, which we really appreciated. Josh, our project coordinator, stayed in close contact throughout, checking in multiple times to ensure everything was progressing smoothly and that our needs were met. The on-site crew was professional and did a great job of cleaning up daily. While we did find a few stray nails in the lawn after the project was finished, it was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things. The highlight of the entire project was the installation of a solar tube between our kitchen and dining room. The natural light it brings in has been a game changer for us, and we absolutely love it! Overall, we give High Performance Homes a 5/5 for professionalism, cleanliness, and execution. We highly recommend them!

Excellent experience working with HPH. I always appreciate when contractors knock on my door and are able to sell me their product. They offered the best price, the most perks, and were very good at explaining every step of the process to me (a first time home owner). The work was done quickly and efficiently, workers were respectful, and masterful at their craft. I am most excited about the new vent system they put in and the slick curb appeal the new roof provides.

Working with the Bidding team from High Performance Homes was a great experience. John and Brian were thorough and gave us a full rundown of all the options available. We went with them because of their openness and honesty, as well as the manufacturer-backed warranty on the roof and work. The roofing team did an excellent job and the attached pictures speak for themselves. They took care to lay plastic around the house and over landscaping and did a good job cleaning up after the work was completed. They were quick and looked after the small details, even the ridge vent end caps, which many of the houses in our neighborhood do not have. As mentioned in an email to the project manager on this project after completion, there were some communication gaps, and that did cause some concern on my side, as I didn't receive responses to questions before the delivery of supplies or follow-up emails in regard to additional supplies needed during the project. Overall, their work was great, and we enjoyed working with the bidding team. Aside from possibly some better follow-through on communication after the contract is signed and through the project, I recommend High Performance Homes.

High Performance Homes just completed our new roof and the entire process was great! Our initial project estimators came and showed us all our roofing options, showed us photos of other projects, answered all questions and concerns. We got the company’s history and the quality of work they stand behind. The contractors installed our roof with precision and attention to detail. Our roof inspector looked everything over and showed us photos of the completed job and answered all questions. We are very happy with our roof and highly recommend High Performance Homes!!

Had a good experience with them for getting the roof done. Unfortunately they didn’t make it clear during the process they wouldn’t finish the job completely. I would have probably gone with someone else if I had known they wouldn’t put everything back as it was. The roof is good they did quick work but honestly left our yard messy. Again happy with the quality of work upset that a salesman made it seem like they would take care of everything. They mostly did but I’m very frustrated by the customer service. I just wanted to verify that if we got someone out it wouldn’t void the warrant. Like I will find someone licensed and insured but I’m not about to risk my roof warranty first.

The Advantages of Fiber Cement Siding

When you shop around for the right siding for your home, you inevitably want to find the products that are going to give you the best quality for the best price. While James Hardie’s collection is made to last. It can also be less expensive than some other products, which will simply not last as long. Let’s take a look at some of the advantages that come along with James Hardie’s fiber cement siding.

First of all, the materials are a lot more durable than most other types of wood or stucco materials. They are also pest-resistant and do not rot. This is something that is a problem with wood siding. After all, wood is prone to rotting and is also prone to being affected by pests such as termites. On top of that, Hardie fiber cement is also resistant to flames and does not melt like vinyl siding. This makes it really popular in areas that are prone to wildfires.

Hardie Board siding is a green product

UV-resistant protection helps to keep the colors vibrant and is an excellent protection for your investment

Fiber Cement Siding is All-natural

If you are trying to reduce your carbon footprint, you may also want to know that Hardie Board siding is a green product. It is durable and sustainable. It does not require you to replace your siding nearly as often, which cuts down on waste and resources that are used. This can help our environment a whole lot.

Fiber cement is also really pretty low maintenance. You just have to keep it clean, and just do a check-up on it annually to make sure that it is still secure. If you have it installed correctly, then, you should not notice any problems with it being secured tightly to your home.

There is also a UV-resistant coating that is applied to the top of the fiber cement siding, allowing the color to stay protected, even after years of exposure to sunlight. The UV-resistant protection helps to keep the colors vibrant and is an excellent protection for your investment.

When considering installation, it is always a good idea to have a professional install your fiber cement siding and that is where High Performance Homes shines. The fiber cement is heavier and more difficult to work with. It is also harder to cut and tends to leave behind quite a mess with dust. We have experience working with James Hardie’s fiber cement collection and guarantee.

Another important thing to consider is the weather in your area. The climate has a lot to do with how well your building materials are going to stand the test of time. Durability is something that James Hardie does not take lightly. In fact, they focus on ensuring that their products are made for the region and climate in which they will be used. So, the Hardie fiber cement siding you purchase in the cold, wet northern areas may be different than what you purchase in the blistering heat of the south.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are several ways that you can prepare your home and property. These tasks can help speed up work and keep your property safe during construction.

• Clear a power outlet. The crew will need access to power for their tools, so it’s helpful to have a clear outlet available (preferably one that is on a 20-amp circuit).

• Prepare the inside of your house. Siding removal and installation will cause your walls to shake. Remove items that are leaning against or hanging on walls, and those located on shelves, as they may fall.

• Prepare the outside of your home. Move anything that may block access to your exterior walls such as firewood or patio furniture so the crew can get right to work. You should also consider removing outdoor decorations and wrapping shrubbery in landscaping canvas to prevent any accidental damage. Cutting your grass short will help your crew find nails or other debris that go astray.

• Make alternate arrangements. Construction is a loud process, which is completely unavoidable. If you work from home, you may want to consider making alternate arrangements. If you have pets, you may want to make other arrangements for them as well.

When the crew arrives, they will get oriented with your property and begin to set up workstations. Once they’re ready, their first step will be to remove your existing siding.

Some crews will only tear off one side of the house at a time to prevent leaving walls exposed to the weather. Larger crews may remove all of the siding right away.

It’s important to keep safety in mind during the re-side process. We will clean up as they work and at the end of each day, but a siding replacement project can be a messy business. Always assume there are nails on the ground and wear sturdy shoes or boots when walking in your yard while construction is underway.

During construction, we may leave scaffolding in place overnight. To prevent accidents, keep an eye on your children and warn neighbors with children to stay clear of the construction site.

The best opportunity to discover and repair damage to your home is when your old siding has been removed. These unexpected issues may seem like trouble, but it’s best to know about and fix them before your brand-new siding is installed.

No contractor will know exactly what to expect without tearing off all of the existing siding. We will communicate any unexpected issues.

With the James Hardie Siding Project with House Wrap, we install after the siding is off and repairs are made, we may install or replace the weather-resistant barrier on your home.

Finally, the crew will begin to install your new siding and trim.

Every house is different, yet a typical tear-off and siding installation project may take between 7 to 14 days. There are many things that can extend the time such as the size of your house, whether you’re using Color Plus or if it needs to be painted, and unexpected repairs. Bad weather can also be a factor and there may be some downtime waiting for building inspections. Your HPH project coordinator will keep you informed of your timeline.
